Coaches – Lesson Plans

Coaches – Lesson Plans

The Coaching Association of Canada has a great tutorial to build a lesson (or practice) plan with a four-step process: Prepare, Plan, Deliver, and Conclude. We will be updating all our lesson plans to use their template.

Mud Monsters (Dryland)

Explanation and progressions of dryland techniques (this is a work in progress).

Coming soon! We will use the 2015 season to update our older lesson plans to the new format. The CCC Jackrabbit dryland lesson plans can also be used to add to our own lesson plans. We intend to divide lesson plans into three groups based on the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model:

  • Active Start (ages 4-5)
  • FUNdamentals (ages 6-8)
  • Learn-to-Train (9-11 years old)

Rabbits (Onsnow)

Explanation and progressions of onsnow techniques (this is a work in progress). The videos for FUNdamentals in the Athlete Development Matrix by Cross Country Canada are a must see resource, although note they are using an advanced skier to demonstrate the skills (login required).

  • Bunnyrabbit (Active Start)
  • Jackrabbit Level 1 (FUNdamentals, classic only)
  • Jackrabbit Level 2 (FUNdamentals, classic only)
  • Jackrabbit Level 3 (FUNdamentals, classic and skate)
  • Jackrabbit Level 3/4 (FUNdamentals, classic and skate)
  • Jackrabbit Level 4 (FUNdamentals, mostly skate)
  • Jackrabbit Level 4+ (FUNdamentals, mostly skate)
  • Beginner Adult (classic only)
