Another season for the record books. Grant and I would like to thank the skiers for their enthusiasm and hard work, the parents for their support, and the coaches for being there week after week and sharing your love of the sport with this great bunch of athletes. Although official training is done the spring skiing is as good as it has ever been so please get out and have fun on snow. For our skiers born in 2001 moving on to T2T, keep an eye on the T2T news page for information about transition meetings and the first training session for year round athletes (should be early in May). For returning Racing Rabbits, mark Wednesday, September 11th on your calendar for the first training session at Mooney’s Bay. Online registration will open on Tuesday, September 3rd. Keep an eye on this page and the main Nakkertok news page for registration information. We’ll also be posting a few other key fall program dates over the summer as they get firmed up. Have a great summer and stay active and healthy.

Come Saturday March 23rd you have a simple choice: to be part of the 2013 edition of the Racing-Rabbit-end-of-season extravaganza filled with thrills, spills, fabulous prizes, smiles, tears, and maple toffee goodness or to be deprived. Yes, to be woefully deprived. This year’s Skimeister promises to be the exciting climax of a season in which the Racing Rabbits distinguished themselves as focussed energetic athletes. Our Racing Rabbits have trained and raced hard and deserve a finale worthy of their heroic efforts. Parents, they cannot be cheated of their due reward. This year the Skimesiter-participants can throw themselves into a mini Ski-Olympics with dream-prizes galore or can set off on a memorable adventure ski through the magically serpentine trails of Nakkertok North. Bring skate skis for the Olympics and classic ones for the trail excursion. If those two activities do not prove sufficiently exciting, the Rabbits can test the durability of their skis on some demon-inspired jumps–enough to give any loving parent palpitations of the heart. And after all their sweaty exertions, there will be tables-full of plump well-brazed sausages, feisty piquant salads, and, to finish off, dainty delicacies with just the right dash of natural sweetness–overall, a veritable smörgåsbord with which to satisfy the hearty appetites and sensitive palates of our young champions. Finally, we will send off our mighty 2001 graduands to the Train-to-Train program, congratulating them for their achievements and wishing them a brave future. Valedictions for everyone! In order to enter into this world of unbelievable and timely on-snow experience, you must do one thing: register. Please sign up by following this link. If for some petty, nay, suspect, or should I say criminal, reason you do not find yourself at Nakkertok North from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, I will shed a tear for you. Oh, the tragedy of missing out on so much Nakker-fun.

Nakkertok is one of only 8 sites in Canada to have received such a recognition. The homologated courses include the Classic and Free Technique Sprint Courses, and the 3.75 and 5 km distance courses. Getting to this point has required 10 years of laying out loops, brushing, cutting, chipping, excavating, bulldozing, trucking in fill, measuring, calculating, and surveying, and now our courses are recognized among Canada’s best. Congratulations to all who contributed to this very significant achievement!!
