Candy Cane Cup
A fully-sanctioned Nordic Canada and SFQ event, with multiple events on two race days, a testament to the success of the Nakkertrak and the club’s artificial snow making prowess
Nakkertok first organized this race in 2016, in part to showcase its then-new, artificial snow loop. At first it was a sanctioned event organized by club alumni who wanted an early season CPL points race that would allow athletes in Eastern Canada to test themselves at a high-level race without having to travel to western Canada.
The first year offered a single interval start skate race. All participants got a candy cane at the finish line. Additional awards were presented at the end of the event.
It has since become a fully-sanctioned Nordic Canada and SFQ event, with multiple events on two race days, a testament to the success of the Nakkertrak and the club’s artificial snow making prowess.
The race is organized by ENGNE, a consortium of all the local ski clubs and events in the National Capital Region and the event has its own website.
