Trail etiquette

A little consideration for other trail users goes a long way towards everyone’s enjoyment of Nakkertok.

  • Downhill skiers have right-of-way. Please give them space to pass.
  • When coming up behind a slower skier, indicate if and how you would like to pass. I.e. “Track Please” or “Passing on your left”
  • Dogs are only permitted on the Pooch Loop. Dogs are not allowed on snowshoe trails or inside any building in winter.
  • Do not leave litter on trails or in any cabin. Take your litter and recyclables home.
  • Do not walk on any ski or snowshoe trail during the winter season
  • Please ski on the right side of the trail where possible. When approaching an oncoming skier or snowshoer stay right and say “hello”.
  • If stopping to rewax, chat, rehydrate, or repair, please move to the side of the trail
  • Do not skate ski over classic tracks or on classic only trails
  • If Mother Nature calls, use the various outhouses, or if caught between, go off of the trail and cover your art.
  • If you are the first to arrive, feel free to start a fire in the wood stoves, move back the ski racks, and remove snow from the door access points.
  • If you are the last to leave Nakkertok, please damper down the woodstove, extinguish any candles and lock all doors.
