The “Upper Lights,” including the Stadium, Charon Jct., and Plateau, and the “Lower Lights” down by J’Hus and the Weber Farm are all now on timers and will come on automatically at 6:00 pm and turn off at 10:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Please do not change any settings or breakers in the electrical shed (grey building at west end of parking lot). The lighted trail requires constant maintenance: we are aware that there are lights that don’t work and are trying to repair them. If you want lights at other times please refer to the instructions posted at the panel in the electrical shed (for the upper lights) or use the switch at pole # 17 (for the lower lights). You must then return everything back to the way it was when you leave or explicitly pass this responsibility on to someone else.
- Skiing at night increases the odds that you are responsible for closing up an area. In addition to turning off trail lights if you turned them on:
- If you are one of the last to leave the Ski Barn and main parking lot area, you should
- turn off the Ski Barn lights if they’re on (these are not on a timer)
- lock both front and back doors of the Ski Barn from the outside
- close and lock the upper gate on your way out. (The reason for the gate is to deter “unfriendlies” from going up and driving their toys on the trails or dumping off their unwanted household items as was done before we purchased that land. During the ski season we are using only the upper gate–the lower gate can be left unlocked.) Note that there are 2 OWL Rafting vehicles parked in the Ski Barn parking area during the winter–these are not vehicles of skiers
- If you are one of the last to leave the Johannsenhus area, lock the back door (from the inside), then the front door.
