Congratulations to our very own Toni Scheier, who was recently honoured for his numerous achievements within the Nordic ski community via induction into the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony took place on Thursday November 24th 2022.
Quite fittingly, Toni was inducted in the Builder category. Locally, Toni’s most noteworthy contributions to Nakkertok in this regard include his tireless efforts related to snowmaking and his securing of the Heinz-Kraft Project Play grant to kick off the initial investments in the Nakkertrak, seven years ago.
On the national stage, Toni was, extensively involved in the initial development on Canada’s coaching certification system and resources and vital to the launch of the National Training Centre system in the 1990s, which brought athletes together from neighbouring communities to receive high quality daily coaching and support on well-managed trails and facilities. Toni served as the Canadian High Performance Director for seven years during his 25 year stint employment with Cross Country Canada (now Nordiq Canada) and was Team Leader for Canada at two Olympics and three World Championships.
For years, Toni has been a strong advocate for the sport, promoting the club and the entire local ski community across various social media outlets, and media contacts, as well as landing ongoing sponsorships for both facility improvement as well as prize money for national and international events held at Nakkertok.
Toni joins another prominent Nakkertok member, Richard Weber, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997.

Congratulations again Toni! We are all so proud of you and your accomplishments!
